Description: Presented is a fabulous portrait brooch or pendant. This is a fairly modern piece, made within the past 30 years, probably of European origin. The portrait is very well done, showing the Scottish poet Robert Burns looking off into the distance, quite expressive and detailed. The portrait is set in a 14 karat gold frame, with a retractable bail and rollover style clasp, so it can be worn as a pendant or a brooch. This portrait is a transfer that has been hand painted. A kind ebay member has suggested that this might be a portrait of Robert Burns, after the Nasmyth portrait of said poet. Thank you! We think there is a good possibility of this. This piece is in great condition. The portrait is in great shape. The clasp and bail both function well. There are no breaks and no repairs. The pendant is stamped 'Leon' and 14k on the plaque where the bail attaches in the back as well as on the frame itself. Remnants of the same marks are visible on the bail itself. The pendant measures about 2 1/4 by 1 7/8 inches. This piece weighs 32 grams. -jm Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
