Description: FAMILLE ROSE CHRYSANTHEMUM AND POMEGRANATE PAIR OF VASES CHINESE REPUBLIC PERIOD These are two of the nicest vases I've seen in a very long time. About 11 1/4 inches tall (about 28.5 cm) About 596 and 621 grams in weight respectively Both marked on the base in red. Both have been drilled though the mark. From the parts of the mark remaining, it looks like it may be a Hongxian mark. The first picture was taken in our photo studio. The other pictures were take in natural light (bright sun light for most). Beautifully decorated with a mirror match Chrysanthemum and Pomegranate design. Note the specks placed on the birds! As the Chinese character for “seed” (zi) is the same as that for “son,” the many-seeded pomegranate is viewed as a symbol for having multiple sons to continue the family line Other than the holes in the base, they are in excellent condition - no chips, no cracks and no repairs. Note how the drill holes were created - they appear to have been made using a grinding wheel with two 90 degree orientations, rather than a drill bit. This is how it was done in the earliest lamps. These vases would of been made into lamps shortly after the advent of Electricity.
