Description: NO OVERSEAS/INTERNATIONAL BIDS!!!! Sale is intended for the U.S.A only. NOTE: Please contact me for a shipping rate quote if you live in Alaska or Hawaii. I retired a number of years ago after spending the majority of my career working in testing and calibration labs and relocated to the northeast. I wrote calibration procedures and was the calibration procedure release focal for the largest aerospace manufacture in the U.S.A. My main area of expertise was in dimensional metrology. I also participated in writing many ASME B89 standards including B89.3.7 “Granite Surface Plates” which replaced Federal Specification GGG-P-463c. The EAS-1338 is a unique amplifier in that it can be used for both linear and angular measurement. The EAS-1338’s were part of the 232P-68 differential level kit or other 232P-xx series angular-linear measurement kits.* NOTE: Angular values appear in red on the dual purpose dial. Linear values are also present – printed in black – to permit using the Amplifier with Federal’s linear gage heads for greatly increased gaging versatility. (See specifications and details below.) I performed a “functional test” only of the amplifier. 1.) Depressing an EHE-1056 gage head, I was able to deflect the meter moment from left to right of full scale. (NOTE: For purposes of the photos, I simply used the reversing switch on the gaging amplifier.)2.) Using a Boeckeler 20 millionths micrometer head, I was able to perform a calibration and adjustment of the “gain” potentiometer on the amplifier on the +/-.010” range (using the EHE-1056) per the instruction manual.NOTE: Normally the scale accuracies on electronic gaging amplifiers are closely correlated so that when you change from one range to another the accuracy will remain within acceptable limits. I decided however to be sure and performed additional checks on the +/-.002” and +/-.001” scales using the Boeckeler micrometer head.NOTE: I do not have N.I.S.T. traceable standards to provide a calibration/certification of the Federal EAS-1338 amplifier and EHE-1056 gage head. The following work was also performed on this item:1.) Cleaned and lubricated potentiometer and rotary switch, as applicable.2.) Cleaned and lubricated 8 pin Cinch Jones connector.3.) Replaced 3-pin oval socket with IEC socket. NOTE: Due to its age, and the nature of vintage test equipment it is being sold “AS-IS”. All SALES ARE FINAL. NO RETURNS.This listing is for the following:(1) Federal EAS-1338 Series (D-10294/V-2167*) electronic gaging amplifier**.(1) Federal EHE-1056 gage head(1) Federal 232P-68 Instructions (photocopy-16 pages)(1) Federal 230 Series/ 232 Series Instructions (photocopy-30 pages)(1) Federal Profiling With The Electronic Level (photocopy-16 pages)(1) Federal Electronic Levels Catalog 76L (photocopy- applicable pages only)(1) SME Technical Paper IQ90-319 “The Electronic Level – Devices of Many Uses” by George J. (see photos 17 and 18)* NOTE: It appears that Amplifier Assembly D-10294/V-2167 is a special version of the EAS-1338 series gaging amplifier as it also has a “Meter Damping” ON/OFF switch and “ADJUST” potentiometer on the rear panel. The features noted below are taken from Federal Products sales literature and may not reflect the actual performance and options of the item for sale and is provided as an overview and for informational purposes only. I will not be held responsible for its accuracy and/or content. ELECTRONIC AMPLIFIERFEATURES:1. Linear/ Angular switch allows measurement in either set of units.2. Completely compatible with existing Federal Multi-Choice electronic gaging units without the need for re-calibration. All amplifiers and gage heads can be used interchangeably with satisfactory results. Each unit is calibrated at the factory so that its electronic characteristics match that of any other component within 1%.3. Reliable, solid state circuitry assures high accuracy and stability.4. Patented “Click-Scale” dial which provides five magnifications, individually presented (no confusion over multiple sets of numbers on the dial), at the turn of a knob.5. Built-in stand for easier viewing of the meter.6. Normal/Reverse polarity switch provided for Gage Head input.7. Correlated scales – once zero is set on the highest magnification, it is maintained as you switch to other magnifications.
