This book is one of his Short Novels of the Migrations ("Kleine Romane aus der Völkerwanderung"). (from Wikipedia) "Felicitas" is an historical novel about the Roman Empire, as it impacted modern Germany. Based in the very Northern Roman empire, it is about the advances of the Gothic tribes towards the end of Roman period (5th Century A.D.). Felicitas is based in Juvavum - the modern day Salzburg - in 476 A.D., and it is an adventure set in the time of the invasion of the Danubian regions by hostile Germanic tribes. From my research online, I found this book belonged to a very famous man: "James B. Pond". It has his full-page bookplate pasted onto this book's front endpaper (inside front cover; see pic). James Burton Pond ( 1838 -- 1903 ) was Union Army Officer in the American Civil War, who received the Medal of Honor. After the War, he became a prominent Lecture Manager, and his clients included Mark Twain, Winston Churchill, and Henry Stanley. He owned this particular book.
