Heis known for landscape, coastal vistas and ship painting.A landscape and marine painter, Ferdinand Kaufmann was born in Germany and studied in Paris with Jean Paul Laurens and Benjamin Constant. Prior to settling in Southern California in 1921, he lived in Pittsburgh where he was a member of the Pittsburgh Art Association.
