Filigree Heart Earrings with Art Glass & Faux Pearls, Unsigned Rousselet

Description: Our unsigned Louis Rousselet pair showcases filigree hearts topped by pinkish-red art glass squares and cream faux pearls; on a backdrop of antiqued silvertone metal.Most likely from the first half of the 20th century, our earrings though unsigned have the type of filigree metal, faux pearl decorations and wire clip back mechanisms typical in Rousselet earrings. Rousselet, a premier bead and faux pearl maker during that era, usually had only paper tags marking his pieces. The few that have survived, such as our earrings, are mostly unsigned.Each of our earrings has a sculptural filigree heart made of three squares — trefoil. There's two side by side for the wide portion of the heart, and there's a third at the bottom. The points of the square come together in the center portion of the heart.Each square has a square shaped art glass element, pinkish-red, with some color variations across the surface. Each flat side of the glass is a creamy faux pearl accent.The earrings are 1" x 1" and are about 3/8" deep. The earrings have rounded wire clipbacks that are typical of Rousselet pieces. The wired construction of the faux pearls peeking through the open base is also a tell-tale Rousselet clue, as is the type of filigree metal design. The use of beautifully colored art glass and faux pearls also points to Rousselet.Our earrings are in excellent condition, especially for a pair that's about 70-80 years old. All the faux pearls are lustrous and have their nacre intact, and those pink-red squares are outstanding. The filigree metal is beautifully aged.
