Description: This is a wonderful and finely rendered Antique Old Plein Air Impressionist Seascape Oil Painting, Oil on Canvas, by the little known but very talented early - mid 20th century German plein air Impressionist painter, Alfred Hartig (b. 1888.) There is not much biographical information available on this talented European painter, but perhaps you know more about him or his work? This piece depicts a finely rendered and vibrant coastal seascape scene, with lavender hued clouds, deep blue ocean waves, pale beige sand dunes and dark green and deep yellow hued beachside shrubbery. Signed and dated in the lower left corner: "Alf. Joh. Hartig...1946." Approximately 15 1/2 x 19 7/8 inches (including frame.) Actual artwork is approximately 13 x 17 1/4 inches. Very good overall condition for age and storage, with mild craquelure throughout the painted surface, a few small scuffs, and moderate scuffing, paint loss and edge wear to the original vintage period painted wood frame (please see photos carefully.)
