Description: Up for bid is an old box lid with a fine 19th century painted porcelain plaque of an 18th century woman. The piece is 3 5/8 inches tall by 2 1/4 inches wide and about 1/4 inch thick. The porcelain is domed slightly and is mounted in a copper frame with tab clips on the back. It shows a beautiful woman in a cloak and 18th century blue dress, holding a flower. It does not appear to be signed. There are no marks, but there is a large blob of old hard putty on the back that may be covering something. Condition on the piece is as found. Presumably the box it was mounted on was damaged and the painting salvaged. There are some scratches and a light scuff to the painting in the upper right as shown. The back is rough, with an large blob of old putty as noted. Still a fine piece of painted porcelain, well worth framing or reusing in some other way.
