Description: We are always on the look out for exotic books, those special items that are coveted by serious and amateur collectors alike. It means so much to us to find one of those cherished books that so many want to add to their libraries. We were more than lucky to have come upon one of the great holy grails of many a collector. This book came from a warehouse in Indiana and it immediately caught our eye. That good fortune now becomes yours. The Vege-Men's Revenge, Illustrated by Florence K. Upton, verses by Bertha Upton, published in 1897 by Longmans, Green & Company New York, London, and Bombay. This hardcover book is in rough shape, though the cover is solid, with some staining, rounded corners and edge wear, and scuffs. The cloth spine has some fraying. The cover graphic looks terrific, with the patina adding to its charm. The binding is broke at the front endpaper, though very loosely attached to the back. Emphasis on loose. The interior pages are adorable, though foxed and stained, with chipping and wear. Simply put, this book is a marvel. The Vege-Men's Revenge is one of the greatest children's illustrated classics of the late 19th Century. Wonderfully creative, Florence and Bertha Upton delivered a celebrated anthropomorphic tale that is much sought after. This book will be shipped USPS Priority Mail.
