Description: Incredible and complex piece of antique Hungarian art pottery by J. Fischer. He was an official supplier of the Royal Austro Hungarian court in the 1850’s-1880’s. This is pretty much the official seal of being the finest producer of ceramics in all the land. He actually trained at the Herend factory which was owned by a member of his family. When I first saw it I thought it was a piece of Japanese Satsuma ware. The colors are extremely similar to Satsuma, the overall style is just a bit different. These J Fischer pieces are clearly made to show off the factories range of skills. It is heavily reticulated and gilded. There are extremely delicate ornate elements which would be prone to damage in the production process. It took great time and skill to successfully produce these pieces. This one could be used as a centerpiece bowl. It could hold candy or nuts. It could be used as a flower basket/vase as well. Condition is excellent. There is no damage present at all. The only issue I noticed is a couple small perforations in the inside bottom of the bowl. These occurred during the production process. You can tell because the hand painted floral decoration was applied over the perforations and then fired. The causal observer would never notice these. The piece will ship ASAP!
