A red, fluorescent isolation wedge at the lower end of the rods provides a minimal touch of color. Ilios is a design classic from the early 1980s, when low-voltage halogen bulbs first came into use. A secondary voltage of just 12 volts makes it possible to do without cables and to achieve a uniquely light appearance. The opaline glass provides soft, pleasant light. The halogen bulb casts unfiltered light backwards against the wall, so the room is also illuminated indirectly.
