This phosphorescent calcite piece’s source location is not known, but I believe it to be from South Dakota. Not sure. It is fluorescent in all wavelengths from short to long, but is best in LONGWAVE UV with an excellent 365nm flashlight. The phosphorescence shows best that way as well. Photos # 1, 2, and 3 are in Longwave UV, while Photos # 4 through 7 are in Midwave. In shortwave UV it is not as bright (not shown). NOTE: Typical Blacklight UV lights may not display anything. Also, the intensity of the color will vary depending on the strength of the lamp you have. For good quality lamps at a reasonable price, I suggest you consider the lamps offered by Engenious Designs on the Internet.
