Description: Fossil Dinosaur Bone Specimen-DS28- Jurassic/Morrison Formation. I have to laugh at people listing a 150,000 million year old bone as "new." This specimen was highly used, until death rendered it unusable. This is a fine specimen that represents history and an era in time. Each fossil is unique, truly no two are alike. Even sections off the same bone will have variations in Rind, Skin and coloration. DS-28- Colorful, interesting multi-textured specimen piece with lots of red agate-filled marrow and prominent rind along front of piece. It is triangular shaped, so it has the front and the “back” is comprised of left and right sides. Very attractive from all sides! Solid piece, polyurethane sealed. 235.16 Grams. Front-Sprinkles of red agate, with large section of protruding rind showing tans, Light blue-grey and white. Varying textures and colors make it quite interesting.2 1/2 wide at base; Mainly 3 inches Wide for over-all front. 2 inches Tall left side X 1 inch Tall right side. Left Side- Red agate with some white, indistinct pattern not really showing rind or marrow. 1 1/4 at base X 2 1/4 top of left side. Right Side-Shows 1/2 inch of rind with large red marrow cells surrounded by tan webbing. Has some black, smooth portions too. 2 1/4 wide at base X 2 1/2 middle X 1 1/4 wide at Top. 1 inch tall X 2 inches tall for most of right side. Top-mainly fine red agate with some orange, a bit of white. One section has raised red agate. 2 1/2 Wide X 1 to 1/4 thick. Bottom-Large portion of whitish rind, red-agate marrow in center, and a small piece of rind on the other edge. 1 1/4 to 2 1/4 Wide/angled. Dinosaurs lived only during the Mesozoic, which spans a period of time from approximately 245 million years to 65 million years ago. The Mesozoic Era is commonly called the Age of Dinosaurs, although dinosaurs did not originate until near the end of the Triassic. The Mesozoic is divided into three time periods: the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous. The fluvial (stream-deposited) sediments of the Morrison Formation dominated the Upper Jurassic landscape of eastern Utah. Originating approximately 150 million years ago as floodplain deposits, the Morrison Formation is exposed throughout the Colorado Plateau, including Colorado, Wyoming, eastern Utah, northern New Mexico, parts of Montana and South Dakota, and the panhandle of Oklahoma.
