From the late Cretaceous at about 83 million years ago, this fossil of a Xiphactinus was found in the Niobrara Formation of Gove County, Kansas. Xiphactinus could grow to a length of 20 feet. It was a giant eating and killing machine. It's teeth was loaded with deadly fangs. Here is a large vertebra from this fish. It is about 1.35" and weighs 0.6 oz. Excellent detail on this specimen.
