Description: Complete jaw from a very old individual. This jaw exhibits several details that show the resiliency of wild animals. The most obvious is the m1 that broke at some point in it’s life, but the well worn remnants of the tooth indicate that it lived for quite some time after the loss of the tooth. The alveoli for p1 and p2 have fused closed. Only the remnant of one root is visible. The aveolus for the canine is much smaller and shallower. I doubt that it held a canine when the animal died. Overall the jaw itself is remarkably intact. The condyle, which rarely remains intact, is complete and retains the details of the muscle attachments. late Pleistocene of Siberia. Measures 7” long .
