Description: Four Time Space Shuttle Astronaut Eileen Collins Autographed Book! Retired Air Force Colonel Eileen Collins is a legend in the astronaut corp. She was chosen as a NASA astronaut in January of 1996. She would fly four times in space, as pilot of STS-63, STS-84, STS-93 and STS-114. Colonel Collins would be the first woman to pilot the shuttle and, as commander of STS-93, the first woman to command a Shuttle Flight. The STS-93 mission deployed the Chandra X-ray telescope and nearly resulted in a disaster when a pin punched one of the coolant tubs on one of the shuttle’s main engines. The STS-93 flight was the heaviest flight of the entire Shuttle program. Collins would command STS-114 and doc with the International Space Station. Collins would retire from NASA on 5-1-2006 having logged some 872 hours in space. The item for sale is a hard back, 1st Edition book signed by Colonel Collins. The book and dustcover are in MINT condition. This is her actual autograph, not a copy or autopen. The 316-page book is a fascinating read with pages of color photos. The highlight is the near catastrophic launch of the STS-93 mission. Bid with confidence, your purchase price and shipping are cheerfully refunded if not totally satisfied with the book. I’ve been on Ebay since November 1999 and find it time to pass along my collection to a new generation of space enthusiasts.
