ITEM DESCRIPTION: Here is a Beautiful Antique 19th Century Hand Colored Halftone Double-Page Lithograph titled “With The Regulars At Port Tampa, Florida-United States Cavalry Passing An Army Pack-Train On The Road.”, by the well known listed western artist ‘Frederic Remington’ (American, 1861-1909), whose signature & place appears lower right in the image area, and whose name appears printed next to the title. This Double Page Color Litho came from the Harper’s Pictorial History of the War With Spain, New York and London, Harper & Brothers, 1899, pages 160 & 161 respectively I believe. The Litho has newer Hand Coloring within the last 30-40 years or so.We have other Remington Prints available so please have a look. There is text on the back of the piece (page 162) along with 2 illustrations by Max F. Klepper titles “Light-Artillery Drill At Port Tampa-“Gallop; March!””, and “Light-Artillery Drill At Port Tampa-Loading And Firing.”, and text and another illustration by T. De Thulstrup (page 159) titled “President McKinley Signing The Ultimatum.”, of which these illustrations are not hand colored. The Double-Page Litho is in Excellent Rare+ condition for its age of 111 years old! The Print is hinged (with archival tape) onto an archival backing stock with a flip-front taupe mat which is included with the auction and is basically there for protection. The Piece is a consignment item and will be sold “AS IS” in the mat. The size of the double-sheet is 16 x 21-7/8”, Image size is 12-7/8 x 19-1/16”. Simply beautiful and a great piece of Remington imagery! No Tears! There is the normal center crease with no tears or damage at all from where the piece had been stitched and glued into the book. There is only a few very slight & very tiny faint water droplet-stains (under 3/16” x 1/8” in size) in the upper right outer margin area & lower bottom-right margin area (most likely from the tinter’s watercolors used for the piece), which are not too noticeable at all. Extremely minimal very slight creasing here & there in the outer margin areas, which are basically negligible since they can easily be matted/framed out. No other noticeable creasing at all in the image area. Only 1 or 2 tiny faint foxing dots maybe, here & there in the outer margin areas. Minimal light toning (very light yellowing) of stock from age.
