In 1878 the Texas Adjutant General published a 227- page book entitled List of Fugitives from Justice for distribution to the Texas Rangers. Known as "The Book," this is a facsimile of James Gillett's copy with his pencilled entries and in the back of his book, Gillett listed and described other fugitives from justice.
