Fully Rebuilt, Refurbished, and Tested Lionel Postwar 275-Watt ZW Transformer.

Description: This is a C7 quality, clean, fully rebuilt, refurbished, and tested Lionel postwar 275-watt ZW transformer.I removed this transformer from one of many dealer displays I owned and sold. This is one of the cleanest ZW transformers on which I have ever worked. It was built in the late 1950s, and was used for one year to power an original Lionel Super O factory made operating layout. This powerhouse can operate up to four separate trains (more likely 2 trains and a whole lot of lights and accessories.) It also has two built-in whistle and direction controllers. This version of the ZW has the riveted core plates and is extremely quiet. There is no discernible hum. I have personally rebuilt and refurbished it on the inside, to make it operate better than when it left the factory. I have also thoroughly cleaned the transformer. The transformer refurbishment includes:Cleaning to ensure proper electrical contacts Extremely low mileage transformer to begin with. Virtually no roller wear. NOS supple original power cord replaced two weeks agoNew copper-infused rollers (for better conductivity and longer life than carbon rollers)New stud diodes in the whistle circuits (instead of the rectifier discs)Original, not painted, Bakelite case with original top and bottom screws. White Lithium grease on non-conductive moving partsCarbon-infused grease on all conductive moving parts (except the rollers)The transformer has been fully tested and works perfectly. Each of the circuits puts out 21.1 volts while the A and D circuits add approximately 5 volts with the whistle boost. This is the most powerful postwar transformer made by Lionel. It is now ready to provide another 60+ years of trouble-free service.
