All graphics including the cut-scenes have been redone in 1080p and there are small changes to the controls. The casual difficulty settings of the game has been made more accessible, with three more difficult settings in addition. There are reworked achievements to show the progress, there is 7.1 dolby surround sound and there are comics as unlockables. Rare Replay is a compilation of 30 games by developer Rare / Ultimate - Play the Game / Ashby Computers and Graphics to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the studio. Games released before 1996 have additional features such as the option to add scanlines, modifiers such as unlimited lives and an option to rewind progress. The Xbox 360 titles cannot be played directly from the game, but need to be installed separately and require a one-time online activation. Online multiplayer is available for the games that had it included originally, as well as most of the DLC. Achievements from previously played Xbox 360 games are carried over.
