Description: The spoon on the left in the first photo is one of my hand carved larger KETTLE OR CAULDRON SERVING SPOONS. I use antique 100 year-old+ traditional carving tools usually made in England. The bowl interiors are left 'fluted' or tooled which are the marks of the carving gouge and serve as an interesting embellishment as they radiate to the center of each bowl. No power tools are used in this process. This piece is in American Black Walnut and the title is 'LOW CALORIE BEAR FAT STEW WITH LOTS OF SPAM SERVER'. It is 2 3/4" deep x 6 1/2" diameter x 15 1/2" in length. The capacity is approximately one quart or so. All my utensils are signed and dated. The finish is food safe carnauba wax on the exterior with the bowl interior sealed with pure polymerizing tung oil, also food safe. Each piece is accompanied with a brochure that documents my 45+ year career of sculpting utensils and mentions that my work is included in the Smithsonian's Renwick Art Gallery permanent collection. (The first photo illustrates several other spoons to get an idea of scale. Second from the left is a normal sized walnut kitchen soon which has a 2 1/2" bowl. Next is a lemon tasting soon with a 1 1/4" bowl. Last is a mesquite coffee measure with a 2 1/2" bowl. Photos #6 through #12 illustrate the work environment I'm privileged to have and some of my hand tools.)
