Description: Florida Artist Gibbs. Canvas measures 20”x24” framed to overall size of 25”x29” in its original wooden frame. The scene is of an area in Jonathan Dickinson State Park by Trapper Nelson’s. Gibbs started to paint when he came back to West Palm Beach from the Vietnam War where he lost both his legs and moved in with his mother . Frustrated not being able to gain work his mother purchased some art supplies . Gibbs started by painting the backyard and other Florida Landscapes. Without having a venue to sell his works he learned of the Florida Highwaymen selling their paintings by the West Palm Beach Courthouse, West Palm Beach Train Station and the downtown West Palm Beach Post Office so he started to do the same. The tourists would buy everything that he had. He later moved to a tiny 10’x20’ shop in Lake Worth and Military Trail where the tourist would line up at the door to buy his works , it was so small filled with works he could hardly get his chair around all the works to paint more . His works have been continuing to increase in value and will be featured at the Backus Museum in the near future . I would prefer local pickup on this item but will ship if necessary or I can deliver if you are reasonably close to St Lucie County. Returns are accepted if you are not 100% satisfied.
