Introduced in 1958, the Gibson Explorer was not a huge success when it was first released, but as the years went by, guitarists began to revisit this model and discover its appeal. In the 1970s, rockers began to embrace its futuristic shape and powerful sound, and the model continued to show its true colors, especially in the HR/HM scene, where it was used by many of the greatest players of that era. The newly released 70s Explorer features an iconic, futuristic-shaped mahogany body, a bound rosewood fingerboard, and a slim-tapered mahogany neck.
