Description: Giesshubel Hand Painted Cobalt & Gold Scrollwork Tea Cup & Saucer C.1840s Rare antique porcelain cup and saucer. Decorated with relief molded scrollwork with gold and cobalt highlights. Gold gilding along the rim. Impressed Giesshubel on the base. This mark was used by the factory in Stružná (Giesshubel), near Karlovy Vary, under the director of Franz Lehnert between 1840 and 1846. Has some wear to the gilding and an old chip to the front edge of the saucer, but otherwise good condition. The cup measures approximately 4 1/4 inches wide including the handle x 2 1/2 inches tall. The saucer measures approximately 5 5/8 inches wide. This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not affect the display of the piece. LW
