This was our Fourth Reference Book that we released in September of 2014. The Staff was lucky enough back in 2012 to acquire an Original American Flyer Factory Service Manual from an estate auction. The manual is loaded with tons of information on Steam Locomotives, Diesel Locomotives, Operating Accessories, Transformers and many things in between. Since the release of our first book, "American Flyer Instruction Sheets Reference Book" we have had many inquires about the Wiring Diagrams for the Steam and Diesel Locomotives. The Factory Service Manual has been able to answer that request. All of our Wiring Diagrams have been Redrawn and Enhanced for better understanding. The Original Factory Service Manual Wiring Diagrams were drawn pretty small and very hard to follow. This is the Third Edition of this Book which was released in December 2020. Our goal was to make this Factory Service Manual information more easily understood by the collector, operator or tinkerer. We have sought clarity, in some instances, with certain parts of the Diagrams or Parts Lists from other American Flyer enthusiasts to make this publication as accurate as possible. But, with all that, it is impossible to know how each locomotive engine left the factory with any consistency from day to day. But we feel the General Information, we are providing, is a good Benchmark for every S-Gauge model of locomotives the A.C. Gilbert Company produced from 1946 through 1966.
