Description: Here we have very cool reproduction of a timeless classic aviation watch with some modern features but very vintage appointments as well. This is a time honored watch that was very popular among naval aviators of the 1950’s and 1960’s. It comes in a repro of the same box that was shipped to servicemen in the field and it came in at the military exchanges. Ahandmade aftermarket brown band and original black band come with it. It’s in near-mint condition. The fit and finish is impeccable. It’s really so well put together and the modern touches are completely hidden from plain sight but tactically very noticeable. The domed sapphire crystal is so substantial feeling but looks so vintage accurate. The bezel has absolutely no play and all the edges feel perfectly crafted and tight/sharp. The watch has a brushed top surface, polished sides, and engraved bezel markings filled with black lacquer/enamel. This is the GMT version with a 12 hour and 24 hour hand and ETA 2892 derived Selitta GMT movement. This is a better day to day watch than the 24 hour only dial or “purist”. It’s at-a-glance legibility is superior of course with the 12 hour hand and if done right you can actually track 3 time zones. This is a wicked cool piece is understated enough to be worn with a suit but sporty enough to be worn with a t-shirt and people in the know will know you’ve 10 out of 10 taste in watches. I’m selling this one on because I have like 4 Airmans and don’t need the overlap. I have the black dial version as well but this one is definitely more versatile. I Also have another Airman I’m listing shortly that is the “The Chief” model in grey and blue hands so feel free to check that one out too. I’m a die-hard watch collector, and always try to keep the paperwork if it came with it. I actually had to order this from Europe these were so hard to come by. It looks like these are only going up in price now since they’re no longer available.
