Description: Newly cut and hand polished gold and silver mixed metal ore golden quartz slab from a historical 1800s Ore specimen from Ore Knob Copper Mine North Carolina. A long closed nonproducing historically filled registered North Carolina deep earth mine shaft. History can be found online. This ore specimen is very old and only few exist. The mine was incorporated in the mid 1800s. Filings from the edge in the spot of gold area of the slab are shown in nitric and muriatic combined silver, gold and platinum testing acids. There is more silver in the slab than can be seen on the testing stone, The two metals are blended together, some of the darker spots in the ore are tarnished silver. As you can see some remains into the platinum acid, after cleaning the testing stone I swabbed the platinum acid, and it did turn yellow. Non-magnetic quartz ore slab. Two cut faces with natural edge. Golden amber to light golden color quartz. 6-3/4 inches x 3-3/8 inches x 3/4 inch. About 2 lbs.
