Gorgeous Antique Georgian 18th c. 14K Gold Moonstone Garnet Floral Ring Size 7.5

Description: A lovely antique Georgian 14k yellow gold, rose gold, silver, moonstone and garnet floral ring, dating to circa the late 18th century. This beautiful Georgian ring looks to have started life off as a closed-back, thick rose gold topped silver or pinchbeck (an alloy which looks like gold, invented by the London watchmaker, Christopher Pinchbeck in the late 17th/early 18th century) button or stick pin with a later added solid 14k yellow gold band. The ring was made in a time when jewelry was created to come alive in candlelight and this little gem does just that! The ring has a fabulous floral shape centered by a fantastic bezel set glowing opalescent white moonstone cabochon with turns a lovely twilight color when the stone touches the light, the moonstone surrounded by a halo of gorgeous foil-backed old rose cut garnets which sparkle and glow a pretty lilac-purple-soft red and compliment the moonstone perfectly, the ring with a later added gold band stamped '14K' with a rubbed maker's mark. The band tests for 14k gold. The ring is approximately a size 7 1/2. The ring measures approximately 14mm across the face. The moonstone measures approximately 8mm x 8mm x 4mm or about +/- 1.8 carats. The garnets measure about 3mm across. The ring rises about 10mm above the finger and weighs approximately 3.9 grams. The ring is in very good condition with all over general wear including dings to the back of the garnets settings and a few nicks to the edge of the garnets.
