The first holy card is a traditional and very popular image of the Child Jesus sweetly sitting on the manger, perhaps blessing a pair of doves. This holy card has coloring that is rich and the detailing is sensitive and expressive. The background is the dark blue sky with gold leaf embossed stars that is recognized as Fratelli Bonella artistry. It is postcard size, measuring almost 5 5/8"H x 3 5/8"W, and printed on cardstock. The next one is a lovely image of Mary holding up the Baby Jesus in the manger. The words "Thou art the salvation of my countenance and my God, whom I must love above all" are printed on the bottom of the card.It measures 3 7/8"H x 2 3/8"W and is printed on heavy cardstock.Copyright: Printed in Italy Serial number No date but guessing 1940's. There is a holy card depicting Blessed Mary holding the Baby Jesus with five angels bearing gifts. A gold leaf edge borders the full-color scene It measures 3 7/8"H x 2 3/8"W and is printed on heavy cardstock.Copyright: N.G. Basevi Lithographed in U.S.A. Serial Number and 1944 date. The next one is a lovely old holy card of a sweet image of the Baby Jesus lying in the manger, gently petting a lamb. The image is in brilliant colors with exceptional detailing. A generous gold leaf border surrounds the card and it is labeled in Latin "AGNUS DEI" or "Lamb of God". This vintage holy card is by the well-known Catholic artist, Mother Margaret Mary Nealis. The holy card measures 2 1/2"W x 4 1/4"H. It is blank on the reverse side, except for the copyright Convent of the Sacred Heart, Sault Montreal. Lithographed in Canada. It is not dated, although these were very popular in the 1930's and 1940's. The last two are very special vintage holy cards. One is a sweet image of Baby Jesus with little cherubs, and the other is a Nativity scene with angels and the three shepherds. The holy cards measure 3 7/8"H x 2 3/8"W and have beautiful rich coloring with gold highlighting on heavy cardstock. They also have gold leaf edging.
