Excellent condition. George Edward Stanhope Molyneau Herbert, 5th Earl of Carnarvon, sportsman, Egyptologist and photographer. Lord Carnarvon is best known in relation to the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb. The Earl of Carnarvon had taken up photography after car accidents had left his health so compromised he spent his winters in Egypt. At his home Highclere Castle (the setting for Downton Abbey) he built a substantial studio as well as an exhibition of Egyptian artifacts. He exhibited at the Royal Photographic Society from 1915-1922.
