I made this custom frame with my own hands, in my own woodworking shop, using cherry wood that I harvested from a 1900's antique bookcase. The wood grain is quite wonderful. The difference between antique wood available in the early 1900's and wood harvested today is significant. Note the beautiful movement of the wood grain and the color of the wood. I used a red-chestnut stain on the cherry wood. The chestnut tones are a perfect compliment with cherry wood, being within a similar color value. I then applied several coats of lacquer to protect the frame for many many years to come. The painting is ready to hang upon delivery with a frame hanger already in place. The painting and the frame are a perfect compliment to each other, in my opinion. Truly...The quality of this painting would rank among the gifting's of the early European masters, and better than many I have personally viewed.
