Like a masterpiece of marquetry, the cross-grained olive wood is fitted into the barrel in six individual elements, which are varnished and hand-polished several times.I didn't receive the box or papers with this pen, only the plastic sleeve with limited edition number sticker attached.From a large collection and looks like a unused example.Graf von Faber-Castell is celebrating the 250th anniversary of Faber-Castell with a very special limited edition – Elemento. The gorgeous collection consists of a fountain pen, rollerball, ball pen and 0.7mm pencil with barrels formed in cross-grained olive wood. A technical innovation has made it possible to enhance the natural markings of the wood in a way that was previously unknown. As with marquetry, six individual pieces of cross-grained wood are inlaid into the barrel. After multiple steps of polishing and lacquering, the wood reveals its characteristic grain with fascinating colors ranging from hazel to honey. The wood reappears as a medallion in the end cap of each pen. The ball pen and pencil have twist-advance mechanisms, the fountain pen is the collection’s crowning glory with its extra-large, bi-color nib in solid 18K gold and the rollerball holds a magnum-size refill. Two and four-piece sets are also available. Each magnificent Elemento writing instrument comes in a lacquered wood presentation case.
