Description: Here is a very interesting and rare early example of the RB Super D Graflex camera. The serial number dates it to 1941 which I believe is the first year of the Super D. The camera has several differences with later Super D cameras. The flash connection is in the center of the left side of the camera with a bi-post connector. Another difference with this camera is rather then the later rotating spline mechanism to actuate the firing of the diaphragm in the preset lens, this model has a scissors mechanism within the bellows that is actuated by the camera trigger. I do not know if it operates as the lens in the camera is one where one must adjust the f-stop by hand. While the camera has the Super D label on the front and inside above the lens the shutter table still has the Series D nameplate. The lens is a Tessar f4.5 15cm. The diaphragm works fine. The glass is clean showing some wear. The outside leather covering is in great shape. The strap is intact. The shutter fires nicely but the curtain does have many pinhole light leaks when I checked it with a flashlight. The shutter curtain would either need to be treated or replaced for the camera to be used again. It comes with a Filmpak back to protect the curtain. The bellows are light tight. A great early camera perfect for ones collection. Due to the shutter curtain it is sold "as-is". Check out my other auctions as I also have a later example of the Super D camera up in excellent condition. Buyer pays shipping and the shipping quote includes insurance.
