Great Books - Lord of the Flies by William Golding (VHS) documentary RARE OOP

Description: This is a 26 minute educational market version of an episode of the critically acclaimed and award-winning Learning Channel documentary series "Great Books." This version is re-branded "Discovery Channel School" and is shorter than the original 50 minute broadcast length in order to accommodate an educational setting. The original TV series ran from 1993-2006 and there were 50 episodes produced. Many were narrated by Donald Sutherland. Each episode profiled a famous book and its impact on humanity and world history. The executive producer of the series was Walter Cronkite. This was from the network that would be re-branded TLC at about the time the series concluded and would become known for sensationalistic and ratings- grabbing "reality' shows. Prior to this metamorphosis, the network was dedicated to educational content and the series was an outstanding example of the possibilities and potential of commercial television to actually produce intelligent, enriching documentary programming. These videos are very hard to find and have been out of print for many years. Other books profiled in the series included "Dracula," "Don Quixote," "Walden," and "Pride and Prejudice." The series has never been available in any format as a complete set and it is not currently available on any streaming services. There is a 10 volume set available if you can find it on Ebay of the most popular titles and also a smaller three volume set. I personally have found episodes of this series to be incredibly enjoyable to watch after having just concluded the reading of a particular book. If nothing else, checking the list on Wikipedia will give you a great idea for books that you probably will want to read eventually if you have not already. They are all must-reads.
