Description: Title: The Greatest Day of a Girl’s Life Date of Printing: circa 1910s Printing Technique: chromolithography, an antique method of printing in which each individual color was applied separately to the paper using a series of hand-prepared stones. Artist: Frederick Alexander Duncan (b. 1881), American artist and illustrator. Born in Texarkana, Arkansas, Frederick Duncan was a sculptor and painter who had a studio in New York City. He studied at the Art Students’ League with Howard Chandler Christy and George Bridgman. Details: ORIGINAL series of six chromolithograph illustrations printed on a single sheet with embossed plate marks around each individual illustration. Printed, published and copyright by Morris & Bendien of New York (printed under lower right corner all six images). Original printed titles below each illustration. Title of complete piece is printed below the two center images. Each illustration has printed signature contained within the image. Framed in original 7/8” wide embossed wood frame. Size: With frame 9 ¼” high by 27 ¼” wide; visible portion inside the frame is 7 ½” high by 25 ½” wide; individual image sizes are 3 ½” wide by 5 ¼” high (piece was designed to mimic the size and appearance of a set of six tipped-in postcards) Condition: Any odd reflections or shadows in photos are a result of ambient light reflecting off the glass or shadow of the photographer (sorry!). Condition of both print and frame is EXCELLENT. No creases, tears, stains or other visible damage. Colors are bright and unfaded.
