Description: Auction description Greek Myths and Small Children, Dutch Old Master Drawings 18th c. Done in pen and ink on handmade chainlined paper with watermark, these two charming studies depict small children acting out famous mythological narratives. One shows a baby Orpheus, singing and playing the harp as he enchants the birds. The other shows a baby Zeus, disguised as a woman ((Vertumne) attempting to seduce a baby Pomona, goddess of fruits and vegetation. The drawings, skillfully executed, are satirical, and intended to make you smile. And they do! Dimensions including margins and Dutch language rubrics are about 4.5 inches by 7.5 inches. There is just a little creasing, but overall condition is quite good. So much pleasure in these small things, and my opening price is modest. Shipping cost within the U.S. will be $7.
