Description: This is a real nice antique stoneware Grommes & Ullrich whiskey jug over 120 years old....GROMMES & ULLRICH ESTABLISHED 1860 CHICAGO with fancy G&U monogram in black underglaze print on front shoulder....1 GAL.LIQUID MEASURE at base on lower front of jug.....White glazed stoneware jug.....10 1/2"tall....odd square band collar....original wire handle with wood grip anchored into a pair of eyelets on shoulder....Excellent shiny nice condition with only a sliver flake on underside of square collar and a small shallow flake on side of collar; no other damage. A nice clean jug. Grommes & Ullrich were famous Chicago liquor merchants beginning in the 1860s....
