Description: An impressive Victorian hand painted genre watercolor from European painter Luigi Polli (Italy, b.1852). This circa 1880 painting depicts an Italian woman in the act of singing and playing guitar. The figure shows the merest hint of Pre-Raphaelite influence and the execution of the painting is outstanding, see the last two images for close-up of watercolor stippling on face and hand. The image measures 9 1/8 x 6 1/4 inches, with frame and mat the outside dimensions are 13 3/4 x 10 3/4. It is signed by the artist in the lower right corner and the watercolor is in excellent shape. Mat and watercolor both show typical age toning and the frame has some minor scratches, all appear to be of the period.
