Description: This is a Mid-Century artist influenced by other Modernists like Rivera, Tamayo, Siqueiros . Martinez’s is an ABSTRACT EXPRESSIONIST with a CUBIST/realist bent. You can also see how his teacher, Jose Maria De Servin, influenced him. Very unique and in a style of his own. He is also referred to as : Gustavo Martinez PALOS, (1941-2013). Canvas alone measure 40” X 40” , the rather thin frame makes the total measurements to 40 1/2” X 40 1/2”. This framing I’ve noticed was typical of this artist, may have been an early framing method. Not sure of date of the painting, as it seems none of his painting are dated. CONDITION: Please look at the pictures, painting needs restoration, and notice the scratches at the bottom right, that can be repaired easily by a competent artist . I strongly recommend that purchaser restores the whole painting. I think it is oil, as that is what I see others have similar paintings listed as. Price is well below what other paintings of this artist are selling for, reason being that it does need restoration, and has some damage. I would prefer local pick up in the Southern California area, otherwise shipping can be accommodated with amount indicated on listing.
