Description: GUYATONE VB-28 VINTAGE VIOLIN BASS SUNBURST - MIJ VINTAGE 70s These basses have no serial numbers so precise dating is tough. This model is cited as 1960s in some places, 1970s in others. But since it definitely appears in at least one catalogue from 1974 let's go with that. Condition-wise it's very clean - no cracks, splits, gouges or repairs of any kind. Body and neck bindings in very good shape. The hardware, pickups & controls appear to be all original. A few marks here and there the worst of which is a small nick to the back of the neck. (see photo) This can be just barely be felt and doesn't affect how it plays. This bass enjoyed a full pro setup in autumn of 2023 including nice Labella Beatle flat wounds. It has only left its temp/humidity controlled environment a few times for home playing since. Overall, it's a well made, great playing, great sounding vintage golden-era Japanese violin bass with years of service to come.
