This is a rare January 1959 "Playgoer" playbill from the Pre-Broadway engagement of the ALBERT HAGUE and DOROTHY FIELDS musical comedy "REDHEAD" at the Shubert Theatre in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. (The production would open February 5th, 1959 at the 46th Street Theatre in New York City and run for 452 performances.) ..... The Tony Award winning "Best Musical" starred GWEN VERDON and RICHARD KILEY (both received Tony Awards for their roles) and featured LEONARD STONE, DORIS RICH, CYNTHIA LATHAM, WILLIAM LE MASSENA, RALPH SUMPTER, PATRICK HORGAN, BUZZ MILLER, JOY NICHOLS, PAT FERRIER, LEE KRIEGER and ELIZABETH KERR ..... CREDITS: Book by HERBERT and DOROTHY FIELDS and SIDNEY SHELDON; Music by ALBRT HAGUE; Lyrics by DOROTHY FIELDS; Sets and Costumes designed by ROUBEN TER-ARUTUNIAN; Directed and Choreographed by BOB FOSSE; Produced by ROBERT FRYER and LAWRENCE CARR ..... DETAILS: The sixteen page playbill measures 6" X 9" inches and includes full production credits, cast list, synopsis of scenes, list of musical numbers and bios of each of the leading actors, but no cast photos .....
