In 1980, Ramona Fradon joined the strip as artist and Messick continued to script BRENDA for another two years. In 1982, Linda Sutter picked up the writing chores and she stayed until 1985. Sutter was replaced by Mary Schmich. Fradon retired in 1995 and was replaced by June Brigman, who remained as artist to the conclusion of the series.
