CROCUS - this colorful, Art Deco inspired pattern was originally made by Hell China in the 1930's. Like the entire Limited Edition Hall Historical Line, the combination of the Crocus decoration and this shape is unique, and exists for the first time ever in this collector piece. China Specialties, Inc 1993" MEASUREMENT: 4 1/4 " H. - 9 1/2" L. CONDITION: We are pleased to offer for sale a pretty Crocus Automobile teapot. This lovely Teapot was made by the Hall China Company for China Specialties in 1993. The teapot was limited to less to 750 made. China Specialties is a company that purchased china from other companies. They used collectible molds and changed the patterns and colors so as not to confuse the collector market. Many of these lovely items are over 30 years old and have become a collectible in their own right. Crocus was made in the 1930s and 40s but the automobile teapot was never in the original line. This teapot is in Undamaged Condition without chips, cracks, repairs or mold damage. The decals have been applied nicely and the glaze is nice and evenly distributed. The inside of the pot is nice and clean and free of residue. We can guarantee this piece has never had any use because we purchased a few of these back when they were originally sold. This outstanding Automobile teapot would be a welcome addition to teapot or Crocus collector. Hall Automobile Teapot The Automobile teapot was one of six cleverly designed teapots that were designed by the Hall China Company as a part of their Novelty Teapot Group. These teapots were originally introduced in 1938 and were produced until the end of 1941. The Automobile teapot is a shape that has found favor with buyers and collectors since 1938 when it was introduced. The automobile teapot is found in solid colors, with the Gold Standard decoration, and with The Gold "Special" decorations. In addition, some teapots can be found with even more ornate gold decorations. Platinim was also used to decorate some of the teapots. Solid colors for the Automobile teapot include Art Glaze Blue, Black, Cadet Blue, Canary, Chinese Red, Cobalt, Delphinium, Dresden, Emerald, Indian Red, Ivory, Marine, Maroon, Orchid, Turquoise, and Warm Yellow. Gold Special decorations have only been found on Warm Yellow Teapots thus far. The automobile was reissued in 1993 as a limited edition collectible for China Specialties. These teapots were stamped with the square Hall mark and the year that they were made. They came in colors that Hall never made old, but some of them are very similar, so the buyer needs to be aware of the differences. The newer automobiles did not have the tooled spout the way the earlier automobiles did. This is probably the easiest way to tell the difference between an original teapot and a reissued one. Later, China Specialties had some of the teapots decorated with some of the older decal patterns. These patterns include Autumn Leaf, Blue Blossom, Blue Bouquet, Cameo Rose, Cat-Tail, Christmas Tree, Crocus, Little Red Riding Hood, Mexicana, Orange Poppy, Red Poppy, Silhouette, and Sun Porch.
