MODERN QUARTZ WATCHES TAKE A BATTERY THEY ARE NOT ELECTRIC. EVERY WATCH HAS EXACTLY WHAT IT IS WRITTEN ON THE DIAL. THEY SAY IT IS SERVICED BUT HAS CRUD AND DECADES OF DNA ON THE CASE YET THEY HAVE THE GALL TO TELL YOU IT IS JUST SERVICED? THIS IS WHAT I FIGHT AGAINST EVERYDAY. AGAIN, EBAY DOES NOT CARE The Atlantis appears in the Hamilton Dealer Catalog for the first time 1959-1960. Another expert says it was released on October 17, 1958. Use those facts and make your own decision. Regardless of EXACTLY when, it was released very early in life of Hamilton Electric in late 1958 or early 1959. This style of Kreisler bracelet(albeit incredibly rare) is unfortunately pretty unforgiving in the area of comfort. If you’d like to buy just the watch without the factory bracelet I would be open to discussing it. This bracelet is the length they came from the factory. They were very short in this era for some reason. This watch and bracelet fits perfectly on a 6-5/8” wrist. Add a link and it’s way too long for me. Obviously it does stretch open to get over your hand but not as much other stretch styles of this era. I try to be as informative as possible so you can make an intelligent decision on your own. The contact is original with no wear at all MOVEMENT: Factory 500 installed. The movement is a first year LOW SERIAL NUMBER 55096L movement. When a 500 has a stamped serial number that is for a fact a first year movement. Lower the number, the earlier the movement. This world’s first electric watch movement it is not only historic, but in excellent shape. The contact is like new. Barely used and a rare find indeed. It is freshly serviced runs great to within 30 seconds per day or better. It comes with a 6 month warranty. Wear it carefully and it’ll last you a good long while. Be good to it….it will be good to you. CASE: 10K gold filled case with a 1959 more than quarter century service presentation inscription. That puts the recipient start year in 1934 at a minimum. Personally, I love inscription watches and carrying that history with me. Excellent original condition for an old watch like this with no brassing evident. In exceptional condition no brassing anywhere. Presentation watches were bought in bulk and engraved as needed. The date of presentation doesn’t always collate with the production date. DIAL: Freshly refinished dial MINT condition. Iconic concentric rings on the Atlantis dial are unmistakable. Looks like a vinyl record. FLAWLESS! PAT.PENDING stamped under 6 marker.
