Description: This is a custom fabricated platform bird feeder. Since this feeder is to be used outdoors, it was painted with two coats of white house paint. This platform bird feeder measures 12”x12”. The corner joints are half lap for strength and stability. The corners are also glued with exterior wood glue for even more strength. The cable used to support this feeder is stainless steel air craft cable which will never rust. The decorative hook is custom made utilizing heavy gauge galvanized wire. The hook was painted black to protect the cut edges from rusting. The screen on the bottom of the feeder is fiberglass screening so it will never rust. The screen is held in place with with splines cut into the bottom of the feeder, to stretch the screen. Wooden strips were then placed over the splines to keep them from ever pulling out. I made two of these bird feeders a dozen years ago, and they have held up very well in year-round use.
