Description: Actual Size: 9'2''x12'3'' Chobi rugs are traditionally produced in many regions. The word "chobi" is from the Farsi word "chob" which means wood, referring to the source of its natural dyes. Our Chobis tend to have large geometric floral patterns. They are all hand-knotted with hand-spun wool. Chobis are renowned for their lanolin-rich luster and stunning natural coloring. Their colors range from soft muted tans and browns to rich coppers, deep maroons, and sage greens. CHOBI (CHOUBI or CHOOBI) RUGS: Tired of generally darker and jewel-toned rugs with intricate (Busy!) patterns, Western consumers (particularly North Americans) were looking for something “New”. Also, as in other home décor items, rug buyers were becoming more fashion conscious. Chobi rugs with light, muted tones and a relatively less-intricate pattern were a call of the times!!! They became an instant success and were the most sought-after style allover the world. Originally developed in Pakistan, the production shifted first to the Pakistan-Afghanistan border areas and then to further inside Afghanistan. The patterns can be categorized as more Transitional than Traditional, picking up bits & pieces from the traditional patterns.
