No matter how you turn or choose to look at this item it is just loaded with fantastic colors, burl patterns and grain.It was hand turned from a solid block of BLACK & WHITE EBONY with a really nice PICASSO MARBLE CABOCHON inset into the lid. The unique grain that is found in Black and White Ebony is shown off really well in this box with the grain patterns running true from the bottom up through the lid. During the turning process, natural flaws such as dark lines, imperfections, natural voids, knots, worm holes, insect art, etc. all adding to the uniqueness and beauty of the piece, are revealed. The entire box has been hand turned by me with all of the small details that make it a beautiful piece and a truly unique item for yourself or a gift for someone special. The box has an overall height of 3 ¼" tall and has a maximum width of 2 ½".This type of box requires enormous precision and attention to detail to construct. As a result, most turners who make these boxes specialize in them, and typically make nothing else. The measure of a turner's skill in making a box usually lies in the fit of the lid. A ring or trinket box has a delicate suction fit between the top and the bottom. You will be shipped the exact item shown in the photos and each piece I make is signed and dated on the bottom.I have been a woodworker for over 20 years, making everything from complete custom cabinetry, to bowls, boxes, and pens on the lathe.
