Description: This is a magnificent turntable which incorporates state of the art design from the other heavy weights such as Linn Sondeck, Thorens and Dual to name a few. I have two MK subwoofers next to the Harmon Kardon turntable T-60 and at high volume, extremely stable, has no distortion what so ever. The secret is a combination of the massive splint which is extremely well built for any vibrations, then the floating 4- pound plater and base where the Itto tone arm sits in unison with the plater creating an amazing stability most turntables don't have. Not Even the famous Rega turntables have such isolation. The sound of this TT is amazing because it has a cleaner base than most I have tested under $3K. If you are looking for a solid well-built TT that sounds amazing and will hold its value, you have found it here. The TT comes with a cartridge which IMO sounds great. However, I don't know the brand as it looks like a custom signature, perhaps someone can recognize and chime in. The lid has no cracks but does not look brand new. However, it could be buffed and polished like headlights. I have included a new belt plus the one that has been on the TT. I will be packing this TT like a professional which means, I will remove the heavy platter so it does not bounce inside. I will make sure the TT has ample protection from all sides since the knuckled heads at UPS and FEDEX are known damage items. Insurance and signature by an adult. Can ship overseas with the eBay’s international service. If you have any questions please ask. Below is a review of the TT.The Harman Kardon T 60 turntable, was one of the important turntables to come out in the early 80s. HK set out to build an affordable high end turntable that most audiophiles could afford. And to that end they accomplished their mission quite nicely. Belt drive turntable with a 3 point floating suspension, in a high mass chassis. Above average tonearm. Often referred to as the working mans Linn Sondek turntable. HK researched all the basic fundamentals, and produced an exemplary turntable that is ageless. Lets face it, basic engineering remains true. The HK T 60 is heavy at 18 pounds and needs a solid resting place. Grado cartridges work well with the tone arm. The platter is heavy at 4 pounds and has a high density mat, also the inside of the turntable platter is damped as well, to further reduce any ringing. Basically a manual turntable with auto lift at end of play, or you can defeat the auto lift by a switch. Has variable capacitance loading. But if you use a grado cartridge it is not needed. Grados are not sensitive to capacitance loading. Comes with a heavy disc stabilizer to insure proper contact of the record with the platter. As well has gold plated RCA jacks on the back of the unit, so you can use different interconnects cables of your choice. With the renewed interest in vinyl, this is one turntable to go after and acquire it just that good. I can speak with some authority on this product. I have owned one since new, and has never failed to deliver the music, crisp, clear, detailed, and with a transparency rivaled only by the finest high end tables costing 3 to 4 times more. This T 60 is known as the working's man Linn Sondeck costing up to $3700 used. Harman Kardon’s Model T60 is a single-play, two-speed, semiautomatic turntable whose heavy (4-pound) die-cast aluminum-alloy platter is belt-driven by a servo-controlled, quartz-locked d.c. motor. Special measures have been taken to reduce the turntable’s susceptibility to external vibrations. The T60’s base is made of high-density particle board chosen for its acoustical damping properties. The platter and tone arm are rigidly mounted on a floating subchassis that is suspended as a unit from the base on compliant isolation springs. The center of gravity of the suspended system is located on the center axis of the platter to improve the stability of the subchassis. Four large feet support the base, each one adjustable for leveling the turntable. The relatively thin rubber mat that covers the platter of the T60 is said to have only a few thousandths of the rebound coefficient of the typical rubber turntable mat. In other words, it forms an acoustically absorbent “dead” layer that minimizes the transmission of vibrations from the platter to the stylus tip. Also assisting in this regard is a 1-pound disc “stabilizer” that comes with the turntable. When placed on the spindle, it presses the disc firmly against the mat.The tone arm’s cueing lever operates with a definite toggle action, remaining either up or down and causing the arm to lift or descend at a fixed rate virtually independent of the rate at which the lever is moved. Lifting the arm from its rest starts the motor. During play, the arm is not coupled to any internal mechanism, but it can be set to lift automatically at the end of play (this also shuts off the motor but does not return the arm to its rest).
