The coin is a scarcely offered and is a hard to come by variety of Sheriff's Office challenge coin. The coin is in UNCIRCULATED condition. Inasmuch it remains in excellent condition and safely secured inside of its manufacturer's clear vinyl envelope. Refer to description photo #9 depicting the coin in the vinyl envelope. The coin is made out of a heavy gold colored base metal that weighs approximately 2.0 ounces by itself and measures approximately 1.75” in diameter and 1/8” thick. The coin is deeply imprinted and embossed on both sides. The coin has beautiful details and multiple colors that brilliantly highlight the Sheriff's current issued badge on one side and the Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit insignia patch on the reverse. The badge side depicts a highly polished gold colored deeply embossed Sheriff's Office badge atop a matte gold colored stippled field surrounded by a black band with the bright gold colored words that read “HARRIS COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE” and “TEXAS”. Refer to description photos #6, #7 and #8 to confirm the image I described and for more details about the challenge coin. The reverse side of the coin features a high-relief detailed image of a human skull in the center with a piece of yellow crime scene tape stretching diagonally across the backside of the skull. Above the aforementioned image of the skull are (3) three words that read “EXCELLENCE”, “DILIGENCE” and “INTEGRITY”. Below the skull is a Latin phrase that reads “VERITAS PER SCIENTIAM” which translates into English to read “TRUTH THROUGH KNOWLEDGE”. Around the outer perimeter of the coin is a black band with the bright gold colored words that read “HARRIS COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE” and “CRIME SCENE UNIT”.
