Description: Harris & Shafer Sterling Silver Wine Ewer Repousse Grape Vine Pattern 19th C Beautiful and fine sterling silver wine ewer by Harris & Shafer, a 19th/20th century Washington DC silversmith and jeweler. The piece was made in the late 19th century during the American aesthetic movement. The design is very naturalistic with grape vines and bunches of grapes in repousse on the body and cast into the handle. The bottom and top rims each have a quaint twig-form edge. An elegant and understated monogram is present along with commemoration dates of 1901 and 1949 on the front face. The underside is hallmarked with the stamped Harris & Shafer factory mark along with the sterling designation and the number "4". Dimensions: 11" tall x 6" diameter. 2.3 pounds. 33.5 troy ounces. Condition: Very good with some typical minor surface wear and tarnish.
